We had a great Christmas with our family. Nathan was pretty much oblivious to everything & wasn't interested in opening presents. He had fun being around all of his family though. He was very spoiled this year...we're going to need to cycle through some toys!!

Radio City Christmas Spectacular!

I surprised my mom on the 22nd with tickets to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular at the Paramount Theater. We took the light rail down to Seattle & had some cheesecake from the Cheescake Factory before the show. We watched the snow fall in Pacific Place & walked around before the show enjoying Christmas in Seattle.

We saw some people drumming on buckets & frying pans on a corner. They were really good so we stopped to listen. A Metro bus pulled up to the stop right next to them & the driver hopped out. The guys handed him some drumsticks & he played with them for about 5 minutes. When he was done he got back on the bus & headed on to the next stop. It was too funny!The show was amazing! The Rockettes, of course, are incredible dancers & this show was very impressive! I couldn't believe they had live camels in the Nativity scene at the end! We had a such a great time!

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Christmas is our family's favorite time of year! We've been very busy! You can see more photos from these events in our Picasa Web Albums. We hope you all have a great Christmas!!

We didn't really know how Nathan would react to Santa this year so we took him to the mall a few times to walk by Santa & wave at him. So, by the time we did Santa pictures he did great! He didn't cry at all but wasn't exactly having fun. :) We bribed him with crackers & a candy cane!

We went to the Santa Parade in Auburn & Nathan dressed up like Santa! He was quite a hit & would wander around in the street before the parade & ham it up for everyone. :) Two teenage girls even asked if they could take their picture with him. It was pretty sweet. We met Melissa, Marci & Merrick down there as well as Jerrie, one of the women I teach with, & her family. The parade was cute & then we got to sing Christmas carols & see the tree lighting at City Hall.

We went with the Swenhaugens up to Denny Creek to cut our Christmas tree. It was really cold & snowy so we sent the men to go get the trees while we stayed near the truck & played in the snow. Nathan enjoyed being outside but would get mad when he would get snow on his gloves. He slipped once & got a face full of snow that he wasn't too happy about. :)

Nathan finally got his first hair cut on December 7th! Chris wanted to keep his hair long but I wanted to cut it shorter. He was being mistaken for a girl! :) We had my good friend, Tami, give him his first hair cut. She has cut & styled my hair for almost 15 years now, (wow, half of my life!) including high school dances & my wedding so we really wanted her to give him his first hair cut. He was not happy about it & cried through most of it! He started out sitting down in the chair with the cape on & ended up in my lap on the chair with the cape off by the end. We used Chris' cell phone, keys & snacks to keep him distracted but they were all pretty short lived. However, Tami was a pro & did a great job. He looks like such a grown up boy now!

Cassie & I went to the 5th Avenue Theater to see White Christmas on December 8th. It was a great show.

We celebrated our 3 year wedding anniversary on December 9th. Time flies!!

We went to Kevin & Royann's for a Christmas party on the 12th. Nathan & Trey are becoming best buds.

Nathan's daycare has a Christmas party every year. All the kids draw names & buy a gift for someone else & then Pat, the daycare provider, gives a gift to each kid. There are lots of goodies to eat & it is always a lot of fun. This is a picture of Nathan with his friend, Hayden.

Welcome to our family's new website! We have lots to update you on as Totsites hasn't been updated since the summer! We'll try to do a better job on this website!

Here is what we've been up to since the summer...

OUR KITCHEN: Our family had an unplanned kitchen remodel starting in August! One of the pipes in the floor under our kitchen sink got a hole in it. So, we got to experience the joy of ripping everything out & having the plumber jackhammer our floor open to fix the pipe. However, due to water damage we got all brand new cabinets! Living without running water in our kitchen for 4 months was not fun, to say the least! We are very grateful to have that all behind us!

KSD STRIKE: As I'm sure you saw on the news my school district was on strike until mid-September. It was one of the worst things I've ever been a part of! The emotional drain of the whole thing coupled with the monotony of standing there with a picket sign all day was absolutely exhausting. However, the unity that our staff at our school had was amazing. Out of 40 schools in the district only 3 schools had their entire staff NOT cross the picket line. Glenridge was one of those schools. Even though we had a variety of opinions we all stuck together & supported each other &, most importantly, the needs of our students. I'm glad we did it as our working conditions & our students' learning conditions benefited from the outcome but I hope I never have to experience anything like that again! I'm already seeing the benefits at my school as I have a half time teacher within my program now! What a huge help she has been!

CARDIOLOGY VISIT: We visited Dr. Olson, Nathan's cardiologist, on September 24th. He listened to his heart & said the murmur is still there, as strong as before. He thinks at this point the open blood vessel will not close & that we should do surgery. He said that Nathan weighs enough now to do the surgery, however there is no rush as it isn't affecting him developmentally. He would like to do another echo cardiogram in April or May to get a better look. He didn't think that Nathan would stay still enough for long enough to do one that day. :) We would like to do the surgery in the summer while I'm off work so we're see about doing it this summer after we do the next echo.

HALLOWEEN: Nathan was a giraffe for Halloween this year! He wasn't feeling very well that day so it was pretty low key. We trick or treated at Grandma LouAnne's & next door at Pat's (daycare). We also went out to Grandma Candy's & saw Uncle Lonny & Uncle Pat. While we were there we visited with our friends across the street, Nancy & Pete. Nathan had a fever for most of that weekend so he was pretty out of it. He really enjoys chocolate though!

MR. INDEPENDENT: Nathan has been doing so much more lately! He wants to be in charge of everything! He is starting to feed himself with a spoon & is drinking from a cup & with straws. He is saying so much now & is frustrated when he can't communicate what he wants us to know. Some of the words he is saying now are: goal, exit, cracker, tree, Daddy, Mama, Pat, Jaden, doggy, woof woof, kitty, meow, car, coat, choo choo & diaper. He is also signing the word “more” when he wants more of whatever he is eating. We're planning to begin potty training soon! Wish us luck!
